This explains what Broadband Digest ("the site") stores about you and why. It
describes what the forum software actually does; if we ever add something
that collects more, this page will be updated first.

When you register
When you use the site
If you upload a picture
Avatars are re-encoded when you upload them, which removes the metadata a
camera writes into a photograph, including where it was taken.
If you sign in with Google, Discord or Apple
We store the identifier that provider gives us and the email address they
confirmed. We do not receive your password, and we do not post anything on
your behalf. You can disconnect a provider at any time from your account
settings.
If you pay for anything
Payments are handled by the payment provider. We never see or store your card
details. We store a record of what was bought and when.
How long we keep it
Who else sees it
Your username, your posts, your profile and your avatar are public: anybody
who can read the site can see them. Your email address and IP address are not
public and are visible only to administrators.

What we store, and why
When you register
- Your username and email address, so you can sign in and we can reach you
about your account. - Your password, kept only as a bcrypt hash. We cannot read it and neither
can anybody who obtains the database. - The IP address you registered from, kept to identify ban evasion and
spam registrations.
When you use the site
- What you post, including edits.
- The IP address each post was made from.
- When you were last active, so the site can show who is online.
- Anything you choose to add to your profile: a picture, a location, a
website, an "about" section and a signature. All of these are optional and
all of them are public.

ask us to remove something. - IP address records: 365 days, then automatically
deleted. - Account records: until you ask us to close the account.

- delete your account
- send you a copy of what you have posted
